Brisbane mother and son team, Michelle and Thomas, have landed their dream jobs after being selected as the ‘mum and bub’ winners in Mattel’s national search for trainee Toyologists. Mattel formed a Funsultation Committee in June 2010 comprising of five mums and dads. Michelle has joined them providing useful and insightful reviews on the latest toys for children. Michelle will be the official reviewer, providing feedback and recommendations that will be shared with consumers via the www.ToyLab.com.au website.
“I’m so excited about being given the opportunity to share my thoughts and opinions through a channel such as the ToyLab website,” Michelle said. “It’s such a great tool for other parents looking at investing in new toys and even more useful for people without children who are madly hunting for an ideal birthday or Christmas present.”
“Mothers are amongst the biggest consumers of toys and it’s great to see Mattel is listening to us and giving us voice,” she said. ToyLab President, Meagan Reay, said that the quality of applications was extremely high and she was amazed by the passion shown by some of the entrants. “We received hundreds of applications from people all over Australia keen to become part of our Toyologist program, with people going to so much trouble to show us their amazing love of toys,” Meagan said. “Michelle’s entry was honest, enthusiastic and really looked at the benefits of the toy from a number of perspectives – from the enjoyment that Tom received from playing with it to the educational advantages of play.”
